Happy National Lipstick Day!

My lovely sister has just returned from her travels to the USA, armed with a bag full of goodies for me! Yay! So in recognition of National Lipstick Day, I decided to crack open my Sephora Favorites full of sample sizes of their favourite lip products. I am a huge fan of a nude lip, so I was excited to see what was inside. Admittedly, I'm not on my lip game quite like I used to be- nowadays, I'm all about skin- so a lot of these brands were unfamiliar to me. The box retails for $28USD, with a value of $70USD- a mega saving, even for five sample sized products and one full sized! All the below swatches are the featured lip product only, without lip liner to illustrate the true payoff and finish.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Ludwig (3.0ml/0.10fl oz)

This one wasn't totally new to me, as I already own her liquid lipsticks. However, Ludwig isn't a shade I've tried before so I was super excited for this. As with the rest of the Everlasting Liquid lipstick line, Ludwig applies evenly and opaquely with minimal effort. The doe foot applicator is very precise despite its roundedness, which I find helps massively when defining the cupid's bow. The formula dries quicker than most liquid lipsticks I've tried before and wears extremely comfortably- it's a no fuss product in a wearable shade for most light to medium skin tones.

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream in Dolly (2ml/0.07fl oz)

The first thing that I noticed when I applied Dolly was how sugary it smells- it really hit me in the face! I hadn't realised, but this is a plumping gloss and it definitely does the trick! It tingles for about 10-15 mins before settling into a softer sensation. The finish is highly glossy and bordering on sticky, which I'm not particularly averse to. I'd be tempted to wear this with a lip liner for added definition and opacity, but I'm equally liking how the gloss looks on its own.

Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Color Splash Lipstick in Rum Punch (1g/0.035oz)

I've never tried a Tarte lipstick before but I think I need to stock up after trying Rum Punch! The formula is so creamy and opaque, yet it's almost a semi-matte finish on the lips. It applied so quickly and evenly, and felt like a total dream to wear. Tarte have definitely gained a new fan of their lippies after trying this!

Bite Beauty Multistick in Brioche (2.10g/0.07oz)

When I opened Brioche, I noticed that the top was rounded unlike a regular lipstick and didn't screw all the way down. I found this a little strange, as there's a definite risk of scraping the top of the bullet with the tube cap and application proved to be really difficult for getting a crisp edge- I opted for a brush to apply it. When I checked out the description on Sephora, I found that the lipstick is actually a 'multistick'- created for use on the eyes, lips and cheeks. It applies on the face like a cream and dries down like a powder. I didn't notice it dry down on the lips, instead wearing into a soft creamy lipstick. I did enjoy the formula of this one, but I'd definitely be wary of the bullet when popping the cap on.

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick in C211 Rosewood (1.4g/0.04oz)

I love MUFE! Their products are so well made and great for both kit and personal use. Rosewood applied so beautifully, with the bullet being the perfect shape for application without a pencil. Extremely opaque with a semi-matte finish, my only complaint is that the colour isn't one I would typically include with a nude set. It's much more of a plum shade that wouldn't lean neutral on any skin tone. However, it's a welcome variation in this box that I'm a fan of.

Ciate Liquid Velvet Moisturizing Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bitter Sweet (6.5ml/0.22fl oz)

In a cooler neutral tone than the other shades, I really enjoyed Bitter Sweet. I've always loved cool toned lipsticks and this is a total winner for me. The formula is creamy, though felt a little dryer during application- not like it had started to dry down, but as though it just wasn't as liquid as other liquid lipsticks I've tried. The wand worked well with the product- slightly pointier than others and with a hollow in the centre, you can get a precise opaque application in just one swipe! It takes a little while to dry fully matte but once it does, it wears well.

Being able to try so many new brands and formulas with the Sephora Favorites was fab, as I'm normally so indecisive when it comes to picking lip products it was nice to have everything pre-picked for me. I've definitely found some new favourites here and I'm looking forward to adding more of these brands to my collection!
